Burning Man Photobook

“Nothing left behind”

Concept & Layout design Client: Photographer, Anders Overgaard

In August 2013, 69,613 people gathered in the desert of Black Rock City, Nevada for the annual Burning Man experience. Each visitor braced for seven odd days of dust, sun, paint, fire, more dust and a wonderful journey of self-expression and hedonism.

They gather in a community, bound by a vision to seek new experiences and break boundaries. The journey ended but what remains is Anders Overgaard’s palpable photographs paired with personal anecdotes. Unfiltered. Nothing left behind.

Book concept, Printed Hard-cover coffee table book

Format

Nothing Left Behind is a hard-cover coffee table book in a customized, large-scale format.

The book is concealed in sand-colored box, like the sandstorms that roar during the festival.

Handwritten statements from Ulla Puggaard emphasize the authentic experience and stand in contrast to the classic typeface also used in the book.

Copper-stamps convey that 180 frames were selected from more than 20,000 pictures, giving only a glimpse of the massive festival.

Different types of paper and tracing paper symbolize the transitions from day to night and demonstrate the effect of being surrounded by sand.
